The Seeing Eye

No other organization has had such a positive impact on my life as The Seeing Eye, Inc.  When Dasher came back from New Jersey with me in 1995, his presence changed my life for the better. The Seeing Eye is a great organization for any blind person considering a guide dog. I remain committed to The Seeing Eye, Inc. and hope you'll take a look at the wonderful institution that trained both Dasher and Carson.

MADD® – Mothers Against Drunk Driving

Mothers Against Drunk Driving - Upon losing my sight in 1993 at the hands of a drunk driver, my family immediately contacted MADD. MADD advocated on my behalf and was always available as a resource for my family. As a college senior, I spent a good deal of time volunteering for MADD, speaking for Victim Impact Panels, and learning about the incredible programs they provide to help deter people from driving after drinking.

Students Against Destructive Decisions
The mission of SADD closely parallels my own:  to help youth make healthy choices. SADD chapters / regions are often the ‘middleman’ that puts me in touch with thousands of highly motivated youth.

National Speakers Association

With over 3500 members, nsaspeaker.org is a great resource to help find speakers, learn more about the business and discover what has become a rewarding career for yours truly.

Kappa Sigma

In August of 1997 I was initiated into the brotherhood of the Kappa Sigma fraternity – and I'm so glad I did. Kappa Sigma taught me leadership, responsibility and opened an avenue for some of the most memorable times through my college years. Since I still work heavily in the college market, and since I owe a debt that can never be re-paid to Kappa Sig, I try to promote the national fraternity as much as I can.

Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA)

If you are an employee of a college and/or work directly with college students, AFA might be a good resource to check out. It's a wonderful organization with a great mission for all college advisors.

Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor (AATH)

If you've read "After This…", chances are you'll recall many of the hilarious experiences I shared from my hospitalization. Learning to laugh again wasn't easy, but it was vital to my recovery. AATH is composed of any and all who work in health care and who believe in the therapeutic and healing benefits of laughter and fun.

Camp Mo-Val, Union, MO

During my first three years of college, Camp Mo-Val was my summer home. My staff job at Mo-Val helped to transform me from an insecure 21 year old into a true leader who saw potential not just in himself, but in all those around him. Whenever possible, I still volunteer to help counsel various camps through the summer months.

American Youth Foundation

In 2001, I first stepped onto the sand dunes of Camp Miniwanca in Michigan. At the time, I thought I was just going to work the conference, but instead, I caught the Miniwanca Magic. AYF  helps develop balance in the lives of youth through a four-fold philosophy of mental health, physical health, social health and religious health.
